Eric   Brubaker

Eric is pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and MA in Education as a NSF Graduate Research Fellow. His research interests are in design, manufacturing, organization and learning sciences. He works with firms in the U.S. and East Africa to study work-based learning and how people span knowledge boundaries in engineering design practice. From 2010 to 2016, Eric worked at MIT D-Lab where he co-developed and taught several courses including Design for Scale and D-Lab Earth. During this time, he worked extensively in Zambia, managed the MIT D-Lab Scale-Ups hardware venture accelerator, and helped launch Zimba Water, a for-profit social enterprise based in India.

Previously, he was an engineer at Battelle Memorial Institute and researcher at the New England Complex Systems Institute. A proud Buckeye, he is a graduate of Ohio State University (‘09).
