CAS Faculty Joel Samoff Wins CIES Honorary Fellow Award

The Center for African Studies would like to congratulate Professor Joel Samoff on receiving the Honorary Fellow Award from the Comparative and International Education Society, the largest organization of comparative and international education researchers and analysts in the world.. The award was established by CIES in 1982 to honor senior members of the society who, through a period of life-long service and contribution to the field of comparative and international education as evidenced by scholarship, teaching, research and technical service, have advanced the field qualitatively and significantly. With his decades-long commitment to African Studies as a professor, scholar, mentor, and former director of CAS, we cannot think of anyone more deserving of such a prestigious award. His research and dedication to African Studies has impacted the way students, faculty, and scholars across the globe contemplate and discuss the issues of the continent. We are so proud (and lucky) to have him in the CAS community. Congratulations Dr. Samoff!
