Congratulations to the CAS Class of 2015!

On Sunday, June 14, 2015 the CAS community came together to celebrate the achievements of 14 very special students. We congratulated our MA students Kareem Alston, Sherif Ibrahim, Nika Soon-Shiong, and Megan Yealy, our Minor and Certificate recipients Selamile Dlamini, Nchedochukwu Ezeokoli, Daniel Knapp, Natasha Mmonatau, Brian Ombonga, and Laetitia Walendom, our Graduate Certificate recipients Ken Opalo and Anna West, and our African Studies Leadership and Service Awardees Atheel Elmalik, Natasha Mmonatau, and Elizabeth Sigalla.

The ceremony began with a heartfelt introduction from our beloved Co-Director, Grant Parker, and ended with a champagne toast given by Associate Director, Laura Hubbard. Students walked across the stage to “Probably for Lovers”, CAS’s theme song for this year, played on the mbira and acoustic guitar by Piwai Music. Over 100 family members and friends celebrated the occasion with delicious food, music, and dancing during the reception that followed. We are so proud of our graduates who have become such a wonderful part of our community. We send them off with the knowledge that CAS will always be their home.
